FOURTH-ANNUAL JERSEY FRESH DAY SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 12TH ON THE BATTLESHIP NEW JERSEY!
Jersey Fresh to Host Farmer’s Market on the “Big J”
CAMDEN WATERFRONT, NJ – September 9, 2009 – The Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial and the New Jersey Department of Agriculture’s “Jersey Fresh” program are joining forces to host the fourth-annual “Celebrate Jersey Fresh Day” on the Battleship on Saturday, Sept. 12TH from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Visitors who tour the ship can then take home fruits and vegetables from the Garden State. Produce available for guests will include famous Jersey tomatoes, corn, peaches, cucumbers, peppers and more. In addition, guests will be able to sample and purchase various wines grown from vineyards in the state as well as New Jersey’s own Flying Fish beer. Freshly shucked oysters will also be available to purchase. Further, guests can enjoy live music from Jersey’s own Hypersonic as well as register to win prizes throughout the day.
The event will take place on the AmeriHealth fantail (tented rear deck) rain or shine and is free with any tour of the Battleship. Tour tickets for that day can be purchased in advance online at www.battleshipnewjersey.org or by calling 856-966-1652 x107, or can be purchased the day of the event.
Berthed on the Camden Waterfront across the Delaware River from Center City Philadelphia, the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial is a non-profit historic ship museum that offers guided and audio tours daily, beginning at 9:30 am with the last tour of the day departing at 3 pm. The Battleship New Jersey allows visitors a variety of ways to experience the ship, including overnight encampments for youth groups and families, special group and student tours and event rentals with a full catering menu.
