DATE: Friday, Nov. 27
PLACE: Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial, Camden Waterfront, NJ
DETAILS: The Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial will offer free commemorative posters to all guests* on Friday, November 27, as the ship celebrates “Black Dragon Friday.” The Big J, which was also nicknamed the Black Dragon, will offer guided and audio tours throughout the day on Friday, Nov. 27. Any guest who purchases a tour will get a complimentary print.
Further, the Battleshop, the ship’s landside store, will give guests a 15% discount for signing on to the store’s
email list on Friday.
During World War II, the Battleship was painted in a very dark shade of gray, making her appear almost black.
This paint scheme, combined with her fire-belching, 16-inch guns, was the genesis of her wartime nickname,
“Black Dragon.”
