One of the most meaningful events of the summer will take place aboard Battleship New Jersey as we honor 101-year-old Paul Robbins, believed to be the last living World War II plank owner of USS NEW JERSEY (BB-62).
Paul reported aboard the Battleship on her commissioning day in 1943 and served throughout World War II in the Pacific.
The event will commemorate the anniversary of June 15, 1944, when USS NEW JERSEY supported the Marine landings at Saipan during one of the pivotal campaigns of World War II.
This ceremony is not only an opportunity to honor a remarkable veteran, but also to recognize the entire Greatest Generation whose service and sacrifice helped shape our nation’s history.
