Former Crewmember Tours

Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial is excited to welcome you home aboard America’s most decorated battleship! Tours for crewmembers are free.

If this is your first time returning to see her as a museum, you will be asked to sign our crewmember logbook and signing wall, located on the starboard side of turret II. A staff member will be made available to ensure crewmembers can access spaces that may be off the public tour route, such as berthing spaces.

To schedule a tour for a former crewmember, please reach out to Morgan Caswell at m.caswell@battleshipnewjersey.org or 856-966-1622 x222.

USS New Jersey Veteran’s Association

Reconnect with your shipmates through the USS New Jersey Veteran’s Assocation! The membership application can be found here. Dues are $25 per year, due on 1 October. There is also a Facebook group. This association is not formally part of the museum, but we are proud to support it!

Oral History

Battleship New Jersey’s Oral History program seeks interviews with veterans of the ship and shipbuilders to provide a firsthand account of life aboard New Jersey. Interviews are informal and consist of a few pre-prepared questions, with space for veterans to share personal stories and information. While these interviews can be as long or short as you would like, they typically range from 30-60 minutes.

Interviews can be conducted in person, aboard Battleship New Jersey, but can also be done via video call or phone. These interviews will be recorded.

Oral history interviews are transcribed, tagged, and then put into libraries, including the Library of Congress. These interviews are made available for researchers.

Crewmembers interested in scheduling an oral history interview should fill out the form here or click the button below. Questions? Reach out to Morgan Caswell at m.caswell@battleshipnewjersey.org or 856-966-1652 x222.

Artifact Donation

Crewmembers interested in donating artifacts from their time aboard New Jersey should reach out to Ben Kane, collections manager, to discuss potential donation. Ben can be reached via email at b.kane@battleshipnewjersey.org or via phone at 856-966-1625 x122.

Please email a photo of your object, a brief description, and a history of the object. Battleship New Jersey collects selectively to ensure proper, responsible care of objects in our collection. We are interested in items related to New Jersey, her crew and ship builders, other ships with the name New Jersey, and the Navy and battleships more generally.

All object donations must be arranged ahead of time. Battleship New Jersey reserves the right to refuse unsolicited objects. Donation of an object does not guarantee usage in exhibits, but all items will be cataloged, preserved, and made available for researchers.
